Battuta Adventours is a travel and adventure company inspired by the world-famous Muslim traveler, explorer, and scholar, Ibn Battuta—widely regarded as the greatest traveler in history.
My love for exploration began at a young age, rooted in the stories my late father would tell my siblings and me about Ibn Battuta’s legendary travels. Raised in Scotland, I was privileged to have a father who introduced us to the wonders of the Scottish Highlands, showing us the sheer scenic beauty that lay just an hour from our home in Glasgow.
Over the years, we made many journeys to my ancestral home in Pakistan, covering the vast landscapes from Karachi to Kashmir (though I certainly wouldn’t recommend visiting during the peak summer heat!).
At the age of 19, my best friend and I set off for Andalusia in Southern Spain. We traveled with very little money, a one-man tent, and absolutely no plans or contacts. Having read enthusiastically about its Islamic history, I knew we had to go, even if we were ill-prepared. In Granada, by chance, we met a Spanish Muslim and the local community. That two-week trip changed my life; I fell in love with Al-Andalus, a passion that remains just as strong over thirty years later.
I consider myself fortunate, and I am deeply grateful to Allah for the opportunity to have visited nearly 30 countries over the past three decades. From road trips in Scotland and Ireland to the Karakoram Highway in North Pakistan; from North Africa, Europe, and the Balkans to the Middle East, South Asia, and China, every journey has been a lesson.
Battuta Adventours aims to bring you many more destinations like these in the coming months and years, insha’Allah.
We are delighted to begin this legacy with our very first Adventour in Al-Andalus, Spain. I invite you to join us this March 2026 for an experience like no other.
