Participants typically range from 16 to 70+ years. Younger brothers under 16 may join if accompanied by a parent or guardian. There’s no upper age limit if you’re physically able to manage extensive walking.

Yes, this is a Muslim-focused journey incorporating Islamic practices, prayers, and spiritual elements.

Absolutely! This is a great father-son bonding experience. Sons aged 16+ can join independently; those 14-15 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Contact us for family arrangements.

CANCELLATION & CHANGES

We understand that plans can change. To manage our commitments to local partners in Al-Andalus, the following policy applies:

  • Cancellations 30 days or more before departure: You will receive a full refund of all payments made, less a £99 non-refundable administration fee.

  • Cancellations between 15 and 29 days before departure: You will receive a 50% refund of the total tour price.

  • Cancellations within 14 days of departure: Regrettably, no refunds can be issued due to non-recoverable costs with our accommodation and excursion partners.

Travel Insurance: We strongly recommend that all guests purchase comprehensive travel insurance that includes cancellation cover to protect your investment.

Yes, transfers to another brother are allowed up to 30 days before departure. The new participant must meet all eligibility requirements.

Battuta Adventours provides a guided tour built on reliability; however, in the rare event of an emergency or unavoidable circumstances, we must reserve the right to cancel a departure. * Refunds: If we are forced to cancel your tour, you will receive a 100% refund of all payments made to Battuta Adventours. Alternatively, you may choose to transfer your full balance to a future departure date at no extra cost.

  • Independent Travel Costs: Please note that Battuta Adventours is not liable for any incidental expenses incurred by the traveler, including but not limited to independent flight bookings, visa fees, or vaccinations.

  • Mandatory Travel Insurance: To protect your investment against unforeseen disruptions, we strongly require all participants to purchase comprehensive travel insurance at the time of booking. Your policy should specifically include “Cancellation Cover” to ensure you can recover costs for independent flights or other non-refundable travel arrangements if the tour is cancelled or if you are unable to travel due to personal emergencies.

Early departure is possible but no refund will be given for unused services. We’ll assist with departure arrangements, but any additional costs are your responsibility.

HEALTH & SAFETY

In emergencies, we will arrange immediate care. However, all medical costs are the traveller’s responsibility—comprehensive insurance is recommended.

The tour involves extensive activity with approximately 2-3 hours walking daily on uneven/cobblestone surfaces. Some historic sites have stairs without elevators. Contact us before booking if you have concerns.

We accommodate vegetarian/vegan diets and common allergies if notified at booking. Those with severe allergies should bring necessary medications as we cannot guarantee allergen-free environments.

TRAVEL LOGISTICS

To benefit from our included group airport transfers, please coordinate your travel with the following windows at Malaga Airport (AGP):

  • Arrival (23rd March): Please ensure your flight lands before 13:00 local time to join the group pickup.

  • Departure (29th March): We recommend booking return flights scheduled for 18:00 local time or later to allow for the group drop-off.

Transfers outside of these specific windows are not included and must be arranged independently.

Contact us immediately via WhatsApp or the emergency number we provide. We’ll arrange a later transfer if possible, but costs for missed tour portions may apply.

As Spain is a key member of the Schengen Area, your visa requirements depend entirely on the passport you hold. While British Citizen passport holders currently enjoy visa-free entry for short stays, many UK residents traveling on foreign passports will require a Schengen Visa to join us in Al-Andalus.

Because appointment slots at the Spanish consulate in London, Manchester, or Edinburgh can fill up rapidly—especially during peak seasons like March—Battuta Adventours strongly recommends beginning your application process at least 2 to 3 months before our March 23rd departure. To obtain your visa, you must book an appointment through the official BLS International website (the external service provider for the Spanish Consulate). You will need to provide proof of your UK residency, a confirmed flight itinerary, and your Battuta Adventours booking confirmation, which we will provide to assist your application. Standard processing times typically range from 15 to 45 days once your documents are submitted, so early preparation is essential to ensure your travel remains stress-free.

ON THE TOUR

A Curated Circle of Brotherhood “To foster authentic connections and ensure personalized attention, our Al-Andalus journeys are exclusively limited to a fixed group of 16 brothers. This specific group size is intentionally chosen to balance the energy of a vibrant community with the intimacy of a private expedition.

Yes, free time is built into Granada and Córdoba days. For safety, please inform the guide when leaving the group. Some remote areas require necessary group travel.

The Al-Andalus Packing Guide: Essentials for the Journey

To fully enjoy the diverse landscapes of Granada, Córdoba, and the Alpujarras, we recommend a “layering” approach. With March temperatures fluctuating between 10°C and 20°C, preparing for both warm afternoon sun and cool mountain breezes is key.

Clothing & Dress Code
  • The Layering Strategy: Pack breathable base layers (cotton or linen), a warm mid-layer (fleece or hoodie), and a versatile outer layer.

  • Refined Modesty: Please bring comfortable, modest clothing suitable for visiting sacred sites and mosques.

  • Weather Protection: A light, rainproof coat or windbreaker is essential for occasional spring showers and the higher altitudes of the Alpujarras.

Essential Gear
  • 👟 Quality Footwear (Critical): You will be walking on ancient cobblestones and mountain paths. Please bring well-broken-in walking shoes or structured trainers with excellent support.

  • 🔌 Universal Power Adapter: Ensure your devices stay charged with a Type C or F (European) adapter.

  • ☀️ Sun & Skin Protection: The Andalusian sun is surprisingly strong; bring a hat, quality sunglasses, and high-SPF sunscreen.

  • 💧 Sustainability: A reusable water bottle to stay hydrated during our walking tours.

  • 📓 Reflection Notebook: A dedicated journal to capture thoughts during our scholar-led reflection sessions.

Recommended: Get an e-sim or use your mobile data if you have a roaming plan.

We pray together as a jama’ah throughout the journey. Prayer times are scheduled into each day, with facilities identified in advance.

SPIRITUAL ELEMENTS

Daily congregational prayers, evening dhikr circles, Islamic reflections on Andalusian history, Quran recitation opportunities, and Friday prayer at Órgiva Mosque with local brothers.

Every Battuta Adventours experience features structured spiritual content. Our founder, Ustadh Tasaddaq Ashraf, leads our core Islamic reflections and prayers throughout the trip.

We respect all madhhabs and pray together following common practices. The focus is on unity and brotherhood.
